I was having conversation with one of my students who is having problems shedding weight and is not sure how to go about on a so called "diet".
Its important to know what works for your body. You can only do this by trial and error. There is no harm in experimenting with your body with a certain food or a workout to see what you feel at the end of it.
For instance, I turned Vegan more than 3 years ago. It works amazingly well for my body. It may or may not work for your body or your mind set but unless you try how will you know. People ask tons of questions about my food choices and the food choices of millions of other vegans across the world and wonder how we survive and what we eat and how we manage. Unless you try, you will never know how easy it is!
Along with thinking about and experiencing what workout suits you best, think about why you eat what you eat and what you get out of it. If you are eating food only because it tastes good then it would be the most unintelligent answer!
